Peace on earth? Not here...

The snow is falling, the children are playing and everyone is celebrating.

Well, to an extent. There's no snow, maybe a bit of rain, but otherwise fairly normal weather. Might be a bit cold. There are children playing, yes, but they run around, either chasing the cat or you, playing with their new toys, getting bored quite quickly and the running starts again. No one has time to celebrate until everyone goes home, as that's when I can finally relax.

Christmas for the last few years. I used to look forward to it, but then my cousins were born, and being sat on every year by four cousins isn't really something I look forward to. I can't even remember why they were sat on me, all I was doing was lying on the floor. So asking for it I suppose.

There's usually about two hours peace in the morning, then an hour at night. Unless (like this year), Christmas is held down the street at my aunt and uncle's house, so I can just go down there for lunch, and back up here again to play games with my brother. We swap where dinner is every year, but really it's only because my house and my aunt's house are the two bigger houses.

I'm not looking forward to this Christmas though. Instead, I'm looking forward to my birthday five days after Christmas. But, it's for the kids, my cousins whom are about a decade younger than me. Gives everyone a chance to get together, even though the majority of us live in the same village...

Favourite Christmas was two years ago, went to Austria for a week to ski. Even tried snowboarding. Our relatives told us off for doing that for some reason (I'm not sure what reason), even though my other aunt and uncle does that nearly every year.

I prefer remembering my earlier Christmases, the getting up at something stupid in the morning, waking parents up, going back to sleep for a few hours, doing the same again and getting to unwrap presents. The cat would play in the wrapping paper as we unwrapped the presents, and then he'd climb the tree. Relatives came round a while later with more presents, and the whole thing would start again, then soon after it would be Christmas dinner and Christmas TV.

To be honest, that's still what happens now, except with more people. Bring on the birthday party.
